Founder of the International God's Way Church, Bishop Daniel Obinim is at a loss as to why Christians will embark on pilgrimage to Israel, Nazareth, Bethlehem and Jordan under the guise of prayer when God has revealed in the scriptures he is omnipresent.
Responding to in recent plans by government to sponsor Christian pilgrims to Israel, he said “I have personally not been notified about that. But what I want to ask is that, are we going there to pray for Israelites or we are going there to pray for ourselves and Ghana? Is Israel the only place one can pray and is that what God has directed us to do”, he quizzed on Kumasi-based Abusua Fm.
“If we are going to pray for Ghana why must it be in Israel, is that where God is? We pray and miracles happen here in Ghana and people from outside come here to witness and also to be prayed for. I am therefore at a loss as to why we will subscribe to such an exercise”, he added.
According to him, he will only give his backing to persons embarking tourist visits to these areas to become acquainted with where the founder of Christianity was given birth to, where he started his ministry and where he was killed and buried.
These place aside giving importance historical antecedents he observed, have nothing supernatural as compared to praying in one’s home country.
“I endorse the issue of people embarking on tourism to see where the savior was killed and buried to strengthen their Christian faith but it is needless embarking on religious exercise”, he emphasized.
