Organised Labour has requested that the Board of the Social Security and National Trust (SSNIT) halt the ongoing plans to sell a 60% stake in four hotels to Rock City Hotel, owned by the Minister of Food and Agriculture, Bryan Acheampong.
This information was revealed by Isaac Bampoe Addo, the Executive Secretary of the Civil and Local Government Staff Association of Ghana (CLOGSAG).
Speaking to journalists after a meeting with the SSNIT Board on Thursday, May 30, 2024, he stated that Organised Labour adamantly instructed the SSNIT Board to abandon plans to transfer SSNIT's shares in those four hotels to Rock City Hotel.
"We were not convinced. We have identified numerous negatives in the transaction that we have communicated to them. How can you conduct a tender process with specific requirements and then change those specifications midway?
"Our Procurement Act does not permit this. We have demanded that they cancel the deal," he explained.
"We will take control; this is our money. We will take control. SSNIT does not need to proceed with the deal... they must not proceed with the deal. We have called for a complete restructuring of SSNIT," he added.
