Deputy National Communications Officer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Kwaku Boahen says General Overseer of the International Central Gospel Church (ICGC), Dr. Mensa Otabil must emulate the good leadership example of former Board Chairman of the Bulk Oil Storage And Transportation Company (BOST) Dr. Kyei Acheampong.
According to him, Dr. Otabil who is also the chancellor of Central University College must resign from all the various boards that he heads, following his alleged role in the collapse of the now-defunct Capital Bank in which he is Board Chairman.
Dr. Kyei Acheampong who is the Chairman of GLICO Insurance Company resigned from his position as board chairman of the Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Company (BOST), indicating that he was stepping aside to allow for investigations into his role the led to the collapse of now-defunct Sovereign Bank to progress.
The move has been praised by many watchers who believe it is very exemplary and must be emulated by officials who find themselves in corruption or conflict of interest scandals
Speaking on an Accra based local television station and monitored by MyNewsGh.com, Mr. Boahen said “Dr. Kyei Mensah has earned my respect and he must be commended for taking such a bold initiative. Unlike Dr. Mensa Otabil who after the bank scandal broke came out to say he is still Board Chairman for several organizations and that he also doubles as Managing Director for such institutions. He should emulate Dr. Kyei Acheampong by stepping down and allow himself to be investigated”
