Tempers flared between the Deputy National Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party, Ernest Owusu Bempah, and Kwaku Asafo Agyei of the National Democratic Congress during a discussion on corruption allegations made against the former president, John Dramani Mahama.

Kwaku Asafo Agyei, in a panel discussion on Asempa FM, chided Owusu Bempah for what he considered to be a lack of appreciation to John Mahama, who, according to him, established Ghana Gas, where Owusu Bempah is an employee.

“Owusu Bempah is one of the people who should be grateful to Mahama. Where Owusu Bempah works now….”

Owusu Bempah quickly interjected, accusing Asafo Agyei of engaging in propaganda.

He stated, “I won’t sit here for this propaganda. I will never allow that to happen. Who said John Mahama brought Ghana Gas? If you don’t have evidence to back your claim, don’t say it. Did Mahama build Ghana Gas with money from his parents?”

But Asafo Agyei continued his line of argument that Owusu Bempah should be grateful to John Mahama for being the brain behind the establishment of Ghana Gas.

According to him, Bempah’s engagement at Ghana Gas has led to a massive shift in his life, and it is wrong for him to criticize Mahama and make allegations of corruption against him.

“Owusu Bempah must add the fear of God to his communication. He should be grateful to John Mahama for the impact he has made in his life through the establishment of Ghana Gas. But for Mahama, he wouldn’t be employed and enjoying the niceties of life he is currently experiencing,” he said.

Owusu Bempah was clearly unhappy with the statements by Asafo Agyei and interjected, but the host managed to calm nerves and ensure that sanity prevailed on the station.
