Parents and guardians have already begun moving their children home temporarily after the mysterious deaths of three students of the Kumasi Academy Senior High school in Asokore Mampong in the Ashanti region.

Authorities say calm has returned to the school after the demonstration by students last night, but many parents do not want their wards to stay in school following the tension.

The Assistant Head Teacher in charge of Academics, Ernest Wiafe told the media, investigations are underway to ascertain the true cause of deaths.

“We do not know the cause of death. However, they did not die in the school here. These are students who fell sick, reported at the sick bay, they were given first aid, the nurses sought the permission of their respective house heads, they went home, they were taken to hospital but unfortunately passed on at those health facilities,”

According to him, the unfortunate incidents were just isolated cases and ailments.

Students of Kumasi Academy, in Asokore Mampong, in the Ashanti region yesterday demonstrated against school authorities over what they described as mysterious deaths of students.

The students who nearly clashed with the Police demanded to go home following the deaths of their colleagues.

Reports say, three students of the school have died within a period of 15 days.

Three students who were sick, reportedly demanded exeat last week and after it was granted they all died within two weeks at the hospital.

The demonstration by the students were triggered after three more students fell sick and were taken to the Garden City and Manhyia Government Hospitals.

Students in the school vandalized school buses and other properties in the process and attempted to attack the assistant head teacher of the school.

Some parents who stormed the school Friday evening to seek answers to the issues expressed disappointment with school authorities for failing to come out to calm the situation amidst the protest last night.
