The Power Minister and the Managing Director of the Electricity Company of Ghana will be facing Parliament’s select committee on energy for questioning today.
They are expected to be grilled on the incessant complaints from consumers over inflated bills and other anomalies in the billing system of the power distributor.
Chairman of the Select Committee on energy Amadu Sorogho said the MPs are going ahead with their probe despite a directive from the PURC for a suspension of the new billing system.
“ECG’s managing director has also been asked to appear before the select committee to explain the current problem that is confronting the consumers, some of the bills have even been increased by more than 300 percent,” the lawmaker said.
