President Nana Akufo-Addo has denounced pastors who have shown intolerance against other religions in the nation.

It has been reported that certain pastors have pushed their colleagues to educate their congregations on the need to vote against Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia because they cannot stand by and let a Muslim govern the nation.

Addressing an audience, the president stated, "I hear a certain man of God has said that Christians should not vote for Dr. Bawumia because he is a Muslim. Are Muslims not human beings? In Ghana, we have Christians and Muslims living in unity over the years.

"What we don't want is someone who will sow seeds of division among the citizenry. We don't want religious conflict and strife in Ghana. We want religious harmony.

He added, "People who seek to sow division on religious, ethnic, and tribal lines are nation wreckers of our country. We want people who will encourage the unity and harmony of Ghana, not these divisions.

"If you don't have anything proper to say on behalf of your candidate, don't raise tribal or religious considerations. Ghana, we are far ahead of that. This is why we are a beacon of peace and stability of democratic engagement in the whole of Africa.

"We don't want someone who is going to divide our country. So on Saturday, Ghanaians must step out and vote to show the world that we are civilised people," he said.
