Former MCE for Akuapem North, Hon. George Opare Addo, has advised Businessman Alfred Agbesi Woyome to pay back the GHC51.2 million judgement debt he received from the government of Ghana so as to have his peace of mind.

To Opare Addo, the issue of Woyome’s judgement debt is one of the biggest propaganda messages used against the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the Ex-President John Dramani Mahama in the lead up to the last general elections

“If I were Woyome, I would just pay off the money and have my peace of mind,” he said on UTV's Adekye Nsroma programme.

He made this known during a discussion on an application filed by Alfred Woyome with the aim of halting attempts by the state to retrieve GHC51.2 Million he received as judgement debt.

Businessman Agbesi Woyome is fighting to overturn the decision by the Apex Court of Ghana to return the money, but Hon. Opare Addo would want Mr. Woyome to "release the money and have his peace of mind".

The Supreme Court of Ghana on Tuesday ignored an order made by the African Court for Human and People's Rights to halt efforts to retrieve 51.2million cedis wrongfully paid to Alfred Agbesi Woyome.

Lawyers for Woyome on Tuesday presented the order to the Supreme Court asking that all proceedings relating to the repayment of the money be suspended.

But the apex court said the African court does not have jurisdiction over its constitutional mandate.
