George Asamoah Amankwah of Europa farms in the Western region yesterday, December 5, emerged the National Best Farmer for 2014.
He emerged tops among other farmers with 129 acres of maize, 6,800 plantation farm, 20 acres of pepper and okra farms, plantain intercrop of 6000 acres , 25000 mounds of yam, 20 acres of oil farm, 147 cattle and three fish ponds with catfish and tilapia, and a host of other farm produce .
He has 22 staff and 50 casual workers.
In his acceptance speech, Asamoah Amankwah expressed his appreciation for the honour bestowed on him.
He, however, urged the government to consider outsourcing the tree planting component of the Savannah Accelerated Development Authority to private people since they have shown the capacity to do a better job than has been done over the years.
The 49-year old Asamoah Amankwah with one wife and three children has been farming for 17 years.
