The Motor Transport and Traffic Directorate (MTTD) of the Ghana Police Service has announced the commencement of an exercise “to check drivers who drive on the shoulders of roads during rush hours”.

The police also hinted that uniformed personnel found to be engaging in similar conduct with their private vehicles would not be spared.

This was contained in a press statement released on Friday July 14 and signed by Chief Inspector David Fianko-Okyere of the Public Affairs Directorate.

The police also cautioned individuals who have fixed unauthorised sirens in their vehicles to desist from the practice.

The police added that 17 drivers were arrested in a special exercise conducted on Monday July 10 on the Jawaharlal Nehru road at Cantonments, Accra
