Accra, February 16, GNA - The power outage that occurred around 1300 hours on Friday was due to a system collapse the Volta River Authority has announced.
Ms Abla Fiadjoe, Acting Director Corporate Services, told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that as a result of the system failure all units in Akosombo went out, leading to the power outage.
However, she said the engineers had been working assiduously on the problem and had in the process restored power to most parts of the country.
Ms Fiadjoe said the necessary efforts were being made to ensure full restoration of electricity to areas, which still did not have power.
Meanwhile, the engineers are investigating the cause of the system collapse to stem reoccurrence.
