Deputy Vice Chairperson of the National Democratic Congress, Anita Desoso says founder of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Jerry John Rawlings is not an angel who is infallible, but a human being capable of making mistakes.

Madam Desoso stated that she dignifies former President Rawlings as her father and has a lot of respect for him, but was quick to add that, that will not deter her from reproaching him when he goes wrong.

Mrs. Desoso who spoke exclusively to GhanaWeb said “founder is my father, I joined the movement when I was in Secondary form 4. 1979 and since then I have been in the party. He (Rawlings) trained me to be courageous. He also told me that at times I need to be positive and defiant. Truth is only one but in saying it you have to give the due respect to your father.”

She insisted that her criticism against the military ruler was part of the upbringing virtues and lessons learnt from former President Rawlings himself.

“If you have a father, at times you may not like what he is doing but you have to be humble in informing him about. He trained me to be firm and I’m doing just that. I’m human and I make mistakes, but he is also human, he is not angel”.

It would be recalled that Madam Desoso has been in the news for slamming the founder of the NDC, Jerry John Rawlings for his continuous criticism of the party, urging him respect members of the party.

But Madam Desoso who has since been slammed by party bigwigs for speaking bluntly to the former President stressed she was trained by him (Mr. Rawlings) not to cower to people’s opinions she disagrees with.

She however noted that she has a good relationship with the former President contrary to media reports and speculation.

“He is my father, and nobody can separate or destroy the relationship between me and him. People can say he made me this and that, yes I’m proud of it, and I want him to know that what he taught me I’m putting it into practice”.
