Recommit to evangelism and good works - CACI head urges Christians

Ahead of the Easter festivities, Apostle George Yeboah, the Chairman of the Christ Apostolic Church International (CACI), has asked Christians to imitate Christ by witnessing to the unsaved and sacrifice their resources for nation building and making things better for the poor.

Christ had done his part - endured painful and shameful death to reconcile mankind with God and it behooved Christians to share the message of the cross for every sinner to receive mercy, reconciliation and peace.

"Easter is the time to make a sober reflection on God's sacrifice of Christ for us, bearing in mind that it was our separation from God that brought us premature death, untold hardships, diseases, poverty and other calamities," he said.

"Now that we are saved, we have fulfill the great commission by sacrificing our material resources, intellect, time and every good thing we have for evangelism and good works, without expecting anything in return."

Apostle Yeboah, who assumed office a couple of weeks ago as the eight chairman of CACI, was speaking in an interview with the Ghana News Agency, on the significance of Easter for today's Christian.

Easter commemorates the crucifixion, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. It is the most important Christian Festival because the story is cardinal to Christian faith. This year's celebration has been fixed from April 18, which is Holy Thursday, to April 21, the Resurrection Sunday.

Many churches hold conventions and crusades to recommit to their faith and to win souls. Others also make donations, especially to orphanages.

Apostle Yeboah said the CACI would focus on both, explaining that there would be an eternal reward for those who occupied themselves with soul winning.

"The Bible says in Philippians 2:9-11, that Jesus was exalted when made that utmost sacrifice to free mankind from eternal damnation and was obedient to God in the end.”

Reacting to a question on the profession by some preachers that once a person accepted Christ, his salvation was guaranteed forever, regardless of subsequent sins, because salvation 'is a gift of grace and not by man' efforts', Apostle Yeboah said that was a dangerous doctrine.

"The CACI believes that a Christian can fall from grace when he willfully disobeys God that's why we are admonished to work out our own salvation with fear and trembling," he stated, and quoted Hebrews 10:26-27 to buttress his position.

"For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, but a certain fearful looking of judgement and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries."
