The Director General of Police Operations, Commissioner of Police John Kudalor has reminded police officers to be self-disciplined and refuse to be corrupted when performing their duties.

He said this was important to project a positive image of the Police Service, win public confidence and trust.

COP Kudalor was addressing the passing out of 560 recruits made up of 325 males and 235 females after completion of a six-months’ training at the Police Training School at Patase in Kumasi.

They were taken through weapon handling, riot control, map reading, community policing, physical fitness and the law of evidence among other things.

COP Kudalor cautioned them against the abuse of the police uniform to make cheap money.

“Many young men and women like you who get enlisted have an erroneous impression that they could use their time in the Service to acquire wealth the easy way, such people would end-up frustrated and disappointed,” he said.

Those with such ambition should have a change of mind, he said, adding that, they must show a strong-will to resist wrongdoing to succeed and they must uphold professional ethics and to treat crime suspects with civility.

COP Kudalor said the police would assure the people of adequate protection and police patrols would be intensified.

Constable Alex Mensah Donkor was adjudged the over-all best recruit.
