Management of state-owned Metro Mass Transit (MMT) Limited, has denied media reports that one of their buses transporting passengers from Koforidua in the Eastern region to Kumasi in the Ashanti region was attacked by heavily armed men on Monday dawn.

“None of our buses was attacked so ignore that false reports being carried in the airwaves and other online portals”, Ashanti Regional Director of MMT, Mr. Nicholas Oduro fumed in an interview with MyNewsGh.com’s Ashanti Regional Correspondent, Kwabena Danso-Dapaah.

“I have not confirmed any robbery incident to any reporter”, the Regional Director stated urging reporters to crosscheck their facts before publishing such fear and panic news threatening to sue whoever is behind the said information.

“How can the so-called journalist use my name in a story I don’t have the knowledge and I have also not spoken to it”, Mr. Nicholas Oduro quizzed stating it may be an attempt by other private transport entities to ensure MMT is out of business.

There were news reports that an MMT bus and nine other vehicles were robbed at gunpoint at Manukrom forest on the Kumasi-Koforidua road which was confirmed the Ashanti Regional Director, Nicholas Oduro.

Checks with the Eastern Regional Police Command reveal that there was no such incident involving an MMT bus which has also been corroborated by the Ashanti Regional Manager of MMT.
