Security is tight! That’s the summary, and with this, there will be no room for mischief or misbehaviour on a day when the entire nation is looking out for the President’s big speech for the last time during his first term.

Like expected, National security officers have been deployed to the country’s law-making chamber, to ensure there are no ‘threats’, especially because there will be several dignitaries including former Heads of State at the sitting.

As part of security measures, a sniffer-dog; a dog usually trained to use its senses to detect substances such as explosives, illegal drugs, wildlife scat, currency, blood etc. was engaged in the inner chamber, for checks.

In addition, several personnel from the various security services in the country have been deployed at various points in parliament to ensure law and order.

Meanwhile, all is set for the hearing of the fourth State of the Nation Address of the President of the Fourth Republic; Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

The address is in accordance with Article 67 of the 1992 Constitution of Ghana which states: “The President shall, at the beginning of each session of Parliament and before dissolution of Parliament, deliver a message on the state of the nation.”

Several subjects including the galamsey menace, the falling cedi, security corruption, education and others are expected to be addressed by the President.
