Registrar at the Scholarship Secretariat has lamented the near collapse of the Secretariat due to previous administration’s failure to meet its statutory payment commitment.

Kingsley Agyemang says for nearly ten years government reneged on its obligation which left the secretariat cash-strapped.

"Not even a pesewa was released to support the administration of the scholarship, " he said, adding it was a clear violation of GETFUND law.

Mr. Agyemang explained the Secretariat’s mandate had been usurped by some public institutions that arrogated to themselves the power to administer scholarship contrary to law.

"A reflection of the dire state of affairs was terrible condition," he stressed.

By dint of hard and innovative thinking however, Mr. Agyemang said, the secretariat is gradually turning things around in the award of scholarships and introduction of new operational systems.

"A major achievement chalked within the short period of my administration has been to secure the release of funds by GETfund as dictated by law to fund scholarships."

He advised youth of the governing New Patriotic Party to begin to strategize to maintain the competitive edge over their political opponents in the country.

He said the political tradition of the NPP believes in individuals innate abilities and potential to create wealth for themselves and societies.

He mentioned that, government's policies that are geared towards self development, spirit of entrepreneurship and that, the youth must work diligently towards those objectives..
