All boots head towards the church as the security services in the Ashanti region converge to pray for the nation as we head into national elections.

The initiative spearheaded by the police chaplaincy of the Ashanti region police command, is to ask for peace and an incident free conduct of the December 7 election.

The function which will take off Thursday at the police church at the central police barracks is expected to see the regional minister; traditional leaders; and invited members of the clergy fully represented.

Ashanti regional police Chaplain Superintendent Very Reverend Jonas Samuel Aboagye explained to Ultimate News that the programme is to intervene for the security services and all institutions that will be playing diverse roles in the run up to the elections.

“When we are talking about peace we know that God cannot be taken away from it. The bible says if god does not watch over the city the watchman watches in vein so we intend to organise this service to pray to god on two levels.”

“We are praying for the peace of the country so that the elections will go on peacefully, freely and with fairness.

“Secondly because police and other security personnel will be deployed to the various points to keep security, we are also going to pray committing our personnel into the hands of God, so that they will go out and discharge their duties efficiently and effectively and come back peacefully,” he elucidated.

The event which is open to the general public will see security personnel from the military, fire service, prisons and the police in attendance.
