A First Vice-Chairperson of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Anita De Sosoo, has cautioned her fellow party colleagues to be wary of taking money from candidates aspiring to hold positions in the party.

According to the former National Women’s Organizer of the umbrella family, once a person is lured to take money from a candidate aspiring for a position in the party in exchange of his or her vote, that person becomes a slave of that particular candidate, a situation, she stressed, weakens the party.

She said it was about time delegates look out and vote for people with integrity and who are willing to serve rather than those who seek to buy votes.

“We should not always think about money like my uncle said. Very soon there will be elections – people will bring money. If you take the money and you vote for them you become their slaves. There are people who have integrity but they don’t have money – they are in to serve. It is time we stop taking money from people before we vote for them”, she noted.

She made this observation, Monday, when addressing party followers at the 39th anniversary celebration of the June 4th uprising which was held at the Madina Social Welfare School Park.

Commenting further, she urged party followers to unite and be at each other’s keeper in order to strengthen the party for election 2020.

Anita De Sososo further urged the umbrella family to always look back and strive to assist their cadres whose sweat and toil brought lots of laurels to the party.

“Some of our cadres are dead and gone. There is division at the cadre front. So, what are we doing to make sure that our father [Rawlings] one day will be remembered? He loves the cadres and our party so much and I wish we try to reconcile for him to come back in 2020 because I quite remember cadres during elections go to the rural areas to campaign and they don’t even care where to sleep but at the end of the day when we come to power we don’t even remember them. So, cadres try and unite so that in future if God helps us and we win, you will also have the opportunity to serve this country”, she noted.
