Seven caged for locking up DCE’s office in Sissala West

Seven persons have been remanded into prison custody by a magistrate court in Wa over their alleged roles in the locking up of the office of Mohammed Bakor, the Sissala West DCE.

The seven; Bukari Dramani, Alidu Mumuni, Mahmoud Forkah, Walika Iddrisu, Amadu Sumani Zato, Sulley Mohammed and Gbemmie Lukman were earlier served with a summons by the Wa Magistrate court leading to the remand handed to them.

The facts of the case as presented by the Prosecutor Chief Inspector D. Y Yeboah said the seven together with others who are on the run organized and besieged the office of the DCE and when they met his absence, they locked it up and threatened to deal with him if they saw him.

Chief Inspector Yeboah added that it was after police intervention that the situation was brought under control and the office of the DCE opened.

They are facing trial over two counts of conspiracy to commit crime and rioting which are contrary to the criminal code section 23(1) and 199 of Act 29/60.

Meanwhile, police in Sissala West are still on the lookout for some others who participated in the riots which occurred on the 26th of October 2017.
