Students of the Kumasi campus of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) have been panic-stricken following an outbreak of a rash-like disease they suspect to be Shingles.
So far, 375 students have been infected by the disease within a space of two weeks, causing fear and panic on campus.
The students have petitioned the management of the university to immediately provide free medical treatment to the affected students and also fumigate the entire campus to deal with the outbreak.
Shingles is a viral infection that causes a painful rash.
In an interview with Class News, the chief petitioner on behalf of the students, Samuel Clinton Boateng said the situation keeps getting worse by the day.
He has urged the management of the school to take swift action.
