Members of the Kintampo Native Defence Family, a group of palace guards drawn from various tribes and regions, have revealed details about their lifestyles, spiritual beliefs, and the role they play in protecting traditional palaces during installations and other royal ceremonies.
Speaking in an interview on Poleeno Multimedia on YouTube, some members detailed extreme routines they claim enhance their toughness, as well as alleged encounters with spiritual attacks in the line of duty.
One member, identified as Adeibi, disclosed that he rarely takes his bath, insisting that personal grooming is unnecessary for men who consider themselves strong.

“If you are a man and you want to look good, then you are not a man. Sometimes it takes me about two to three months before I bath. As a man, what are you bathing for? If you smell me and you can’t come close, then you can go. I have a pomade that has lasted more than two years because I don’t bath,” he said.
Adeibi further claimed he has “never lost a fight,” recalling an incident from his school days where he allegedly beat a teacher who reprimanded him for eating his pineapple without permission.
“I have never lost a fight before. In fact, that is why I couldn’t continue school because I beat my teacher. He had peeled pineapple and I took some to eat. He got angry and insulted me harshly and when we closed from school, I met him and beat him.”
Odumgya Osei Akoto, commander of the force, explained that the group is composed of individuals from different tribes and regions who serve as palace guards for various chiefs.
According to him, their work exposes them to spiritual attacks, which they believe they are trained and fortified to withstand.
Another member, Karim, claimed the group is immune to physical weapons such as cutlasses, arrows, pump-action guns, and even AK-47 rifles.
“We don’t fear cutlass, arrow or any pump action gun or AK-47 gun. Where we are, guns don’t work,” he stated.
A fellow guard, Abdulla Karim, added that one member’s outfit was a form of “Ghana-made bulletproof,” further emphasising their belief in mystical protection.
Another member, known as Junior Shaker, reiterated that the strength of the Kintampo Native Defence Family comes from spiritual sources, making them “very powerful.”
The group maintains that their unique practices and claimed supernatural fortification are essential to fulfilling their duties in protecting palaces and ensuring successful traditional installations.
