Deputy Communications Minister in charge of Information Felix Kwakye Ofosu has said his colleague Stan Dogbe is not a monster as sections of the media have sought to portray him.
According to him, media reports about the presidential staffer are often exaggerated and mostly untrue.
Commenting on the call by some media practitioners for the President to sanction Mr. Dogbe over his recent clashes with some media personalities, Kwakye Ofosu said those matters have been dealt with amicably.
“ Sometimes sections of the media turn to exaggerate matters a bit and sometimes they launch unfair attacks on individuals in government with the view of reducing their standing in the eyes of the public.
“ I work closely with Stan, and I can tell you that he is a very affable, amiable and extremely hardworking person. Most of the things that are written about him are not true,” he said.
He added: “The issue that people are talking about now has been amicably resolved and the necessary counselling has been done and we expect that going forward, we should not have a recurrence of such issues but it should be established that Stan is not a monster”.
The Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA) initiated the move to petition the president, calling for the sanctioning of Stan Dogbe for his unruly behaviour towards journalists in the country.
The petition followed Mr Dogbe’s alleged assault on Yahayah Kwamoah, a journalist with state-run Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC), two months ago.
The presidential staffer reportedly seized and destroyed the journalist’s recording equipment at the 37 Military Hospital.
The journalist had gone to the hospital to follow-up on developments around the presidential press corps who had been involved in a serious accident that left one journalist dead and others seriously injured.
