Solomon Owusu [L] and Kofi Ofosu Nkansah
A senior member of the Movement For Change (MFC), Solomon Owusu, has cautioned the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) and former CEO of the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme, Kofi Ofosu Nkansah, not to use the name of Alan Kyerematen to resurrect their declining party.
His comment follows a post on Facebook by Ofosu Nkansah in which he called for unity within the party as they look ahead to the 2028 general elections. In his post on Friday, April 11, 2025, he also welcomed back former NPP member and leader of the Movement For Change, Alan Kyerematen.
“A united NPP will make a 2028 win much easier. Chief Alan and all those who left are welcome back to the Elephant family,” he wrote, ending his post with the words, “Once an Osonoba…”
In response to the call, Solomon Owusu slammed Ofosu Nkansah, stating that he and some NPP leaders had constantly attacked Alan Kyerematen before the 2024 general elections. Owusu emphasized that the leader of the Movement For Change has never regretted leaving the NPP and has no intention of returning.
“Alan Kyerematen is very much happy with his political trajectory, and at the appropriate time, he will address the nation,” Owusu said.
He reminded Ghanaians that just a few weeks before the 2024 elections, the NPP was a declining party, and the call by Kofi Ofosu Nkansah on behalf of the NPP confirms what Alan Kyerematen had observed long ago.
Owusu warned that if the NPP's strategy is to use Alan as a punching bag to relaunch their dying party, they should be prepared to face the wrath of the Movement For Change.
