A Deputy National Organizer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Joshua Hamidu Akamba has slammed the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) following the seizure of the National Organizer’s vehicles at his Tema Gulf Residence.

Speaking to Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm, Mr. Akamba described the incident as unfortunate and unnecessary.

Suspected military officers on Wednesday ransacked the residence of Kofi Adams. The men numbering about 15 in the company of four alleged national security officials and two DVLA staff seized two pickups and 3 landcruisers in his [Adams’] absence.

The National Organizer, Kofi Adams who is currently in Dubai for an event said, the men said they were acting upon orders from National Security Minister, Dr. Albert Kan Dapaah.

According to Kofi Adams, the men said they ransacked the residence under the pretext that the seized vehicles belonged to the state.

But commenting on the issue, Mr. Akamba said that was not the way to go about it if indeed the vehicles belonged to the state as purported by the alleged military officers and their accomplices.

‘’You don’t have the right to take my car. You only have to invite me by a letter so that I come and explain or bring my documents. You don’t have the right to bring military into my house as if there is coup in this country…I think that the NPP should stop it, and Nana Addo must rise up to that occasion by ordering his men to stop the unlawful invasion…Ghana does not belong to a particular people.’’

He recounted how he went through a similar incident in 2001 after former president Kufour took over the management of Ghana.

He said the invasion is unfair and should be condemned. He charged the NPP to rather focus on delivering on their promises instead of witch haunting people unnecessarily.

‘’I don’t think this is fair. Ghana does not belong to a particular people or they now want to frustrate us to move out of this country? We will stay with them and demand the accountability they told Ghanaians they were going to do. We will stay with them and demand for the fuel prices that they said they were going to reduce. We will stay with them and demand for no corruption. We will stay with them and demand that the taxes that they said they were going to clear at the port happened. We will stay with them and demand for every single promise they made to Ghanaians including the 1-district-1 factory, 1 village 1 dam...’’

He called members of the NDC to come together and fight the ‘’common enemy’’ adding, this is the only way we can come back to power in 2020.

‘’I call on our members to come together and stop the blame game now; that we should stand up to the NPP…This is the only way we can come back to power in 2020. We should be united and fight the common enemy that have decided to make themselves enemies. This is seriously uncalled for in this 20th Century. We don’t need to chase cars. Start chasing the economy, start chasing the dollar…This what the Ghanaian people want…The NPP must stop this and focus on moving Ghana forward.’’
