Sulley Muntari reveals why he joined Deportivo
Ghanaian midfielder Sulley Muntari has revealed the reasons he opted to sign for struggling Spanish side Deportivo La Coruna despite interest from other clubs.
Muntari was handed a contract until the end of the season with an option for a further year after completing a successful trial period.
The 33-year-old highlighted the key role former teammate and current head coach of Depor Clarence Seedorf played in his decision making.
He also noted the club’s previous exploits in the UEFA Champions League that attracted him to Galicia.
"I had offers, but I chose to come here because it's a club that was in the Champions League," he explained.
"They have the DNA of a big club, historic and with a winning mentality.
"It was easy to choose, because also there is an old team-mate here."
Muntari made his debut for Deportivo La Coruna as they drew goalless with Espanyol in the Spanish LaLiga match at the Estadio Abanca-Raizor on Friday.
