Ghanaians have been urged to support the conversion of the nation’s Polytechnics to Technical Universities.
Mr Paa-Quecy Adu, All-Africa Students Union Head of Protocol said the conversion process must be devoid of party politics for the good of the nation.
He said government and all stakeholders involved in the implementation of the conversion of the Polytechnics to Technical Universities must ensure that the project comes to a reality.
Mr Adu made these remarks on Tuesday in Accra in an interview with the Ghana News Agency on the sideline of a stakeholder Consultative Forum on the conversion of Polytechnics to Technical Universities.
The forum on theme “Repositioning Technical Education as a Driver of Economic Transformation and National Development,” brought together a number of distinguished personalities in the education sector for deliberations.
He said the initial challenges would be whether it was possible to convert all the Polytechnics into Technical Universities at a go or it should be carried out on pilot bases and which Polytechnic qualifies to be converted into a Technical University.
He called on government to ensure that proper budgetary allocation was made for the project implementation.
He said the conversion process would go a long way to affect Ghana and Africa at large, hence all stakeholders must ensure that the implementation process was well monitored.
Mr Adu lauded the Technical Committee on the Conversion of Polytechnics in Ghana to Technical Universities for a job well done.
