A man who gave his name as Reverend Justice has been arrested for allegedly posing as a lawyer and has been sent to the Accra Central Police Station for interrogation.

He was busted when he was about entering the Accra Circuit Court 1 to undertake his ‘normal duties.’

A check with the police revealed that Rev. Justice was dealing with narcotics-related case at the circuit court.

The police approached Rev. Justice, who was in his clerical outfit, but he pleaded with the police to give him time to finish his business for the day. However, the law enforcers would not allow that because according to them, the law prevents them from arresting and interrogating a legal practitioner while his case is on.

He was, therefore, arrested and when questioned about when he completed the Ghana School of Law; when he was called to the Bar, who his mates are and his licence number, Rev. Justice failed to provide answers to the questions. He explained that he was not at the court as counsel but as a pastor to plead for bail. The police hauled him to the Accra Central Police Station for further interrogation while his ‘client’ looked on in surprise and disappointment.

When questioned, the suspect said he was a pastor, lecturer in Theology and a Law student. According to him, he and his pastor friends organised a party for children at Weija in Accra and during their interactions with them (children), they got to know that the police had arrested the mother of one of them.

Rev. Justice claimed he, therefore, came to the court to plead for bail for the woman, in his capacity as a pastor and not as a lawyer who was going to defend the woman.

. Investigation into the matter was still ongoing.

The arrest of Rev. Justice comes on the heels of the recent apprehension of a certain Anthony Anyomi, who had been posing as a lawyer and practising at various courts.
