Joking With the People's Mandate; The Case of Compulsory Payment of National Towing Levy ---CVM
The Ministry of Transport, NRSC and the Roads & Transport Committee of Parliament are deviating from logical reasoning. We expect them to do better analysis & sensible thinking to the collective good of Drivers especially the Commercial Drivers.
The Compulsory National Towing Levy Policy was never part of the NPP's Manifesto for the 2008, 2012 & 2016 general elections.
So does it make sense politically for the appointees of President Akufo-Addo at the Transport Ministry and NPP MPs on the Roads and Transport Committee of Parliament to be championing as well as defending the *monopolized contract* awarded by incompetent Mahama's Government to the Road Safety Management Services Limited(RSMSL) in 2016?
The decision by the Ministry of Transport, NRSC and NPP Members of Parliament on the Roads and Transport Committee of Parliament to endorsed the Mandatory Payment of National Towing Levy to RSMSL is unwise politically, socially and economically as well as totally an affront to the All-inclusive Private Sector Participation in the socio-economic development of the Nation.
President Akufo-Addo's Government must constantly guide itself by the mistakes of previous Administrations.
Previous Governments lost the general election irrespective of their achievements in Government due to the implementations of unfair and generally unacceptable policies which subsequently triggers the anger of Drivers, middle class, passengers, Hawkers, teachers, nurses and other category of voters.
The appointees in President Akufo-Addo's Government and NPP MPs shouldn't joke with people's power and the goodwill entrusted in the New Patriotic Party during the 7th December 2016 General Election.
President Akufo-Addo's Government in the interest of the Citizenry and NPP staying onto Power beyond 2020 must suspend the implementation of John Mahama's awarded Monopoly Mandatory National Towing Levy Contract to RSMSL as well as entirely cancel the contract.
It will make sense for Government to pay judgement debt to RSMSL than to burden Ghanaians with the payment of compulsory National Towing Levy to RSMSL.
President Akufo-Addo's Government should not be encouraged to carry out the burden and useless policy of John Mahama's Administration.

Razak Kojo Opoku
