Ms Sheena Lindahl, Partner at empact, an entrepreneurial development agency in the United States, has advocated low interest rates in Ghana to encourage young entrepreneurs to implement their business plans.

Ms Lindahl, a United States teenage entrepreneur whose exploits have received recognition from the White House, said low interest rates would assure young entrepreneurs of low risks, which are essential in starting up a business.

Ms Lindahl made this known during her interaction with journalists in Tamale as part of her visit to the country to celebrate the stories of young entrepreneurs.

She said high interest rates have been the main hindrance to putting ideas into implementation.

Currently, Ghana’s interest rate is pegged between 19 per cent to 26 per cent.

Ms Lindahl urged young entrepreneurs in the country not to be daunted by challenges but rather strive to take the first step by starting to implement their ideas in any small way for results.

She said there are a lot of young entrepreneurs in the country whose stories she would share in the United States to develop partnership.

She expressed optimism about young Ghanaian entrepreneurs succeeding in the global stage and asked them to be bold to take the first step to put their ideas into action.

Empact's (formerly Extreme Entrepreneurship Education) focuses on facilitating a culture of entrepreneurship in communities across the world through exposure, celebration and early stage start-up support.
