Trending GH: Ghanaians reject DNA results on Tadi kidnapped girls

The Ghana Police Service is no closer to bringing to an end the kidnapped Takoradi girls’ saga despite openly declaring that all four girls have been killed.

The acting IGP, James Oppong Boanuh, on Monday during a press conference announced the death of the four kidnapped girls in Takoradi after DNA tests were carried on some skeletal human remains found in the house of the lead suspect of the case, Samuel Udotek Wills.

Since the news broke, many Ghanaians have raised doubts about the authenticity of the DNA results, citing some inconsistencies and inaccuracies in the narration of the CID in the lead up to the Press Conference yesterday.

To gauge the level of trust or otherwise the average Ghanaian attached to the DNA result, GhanaWeb paid a visit to the 37 Market, where some traders and drivers revealed their lack of trust in the police report.

“It will be difficult to trust them. Imagine my child goes missing, for the police to see some human bones somewhere else, and report to me that they are my children, I will not believe It.”, one trader said.

Another trader saw the confirmation of the death of the four Takoradi girls as an escape plan by the police to discontinue the investigations into the case which has taken up a lot their time and resources.

“I didn’t believe it when I first heard the news. It’s not true, they just want the parents of the girls to let go of the issue. The vicinity where they claimed they found the dead bodies, even if it’s at the outskirt of a town, people would at least perceive a foul smell of a dead body,” she said.

The Director-General of the Criminal Investigations Department, Tiwaa Addo-Danquah’s statement that her outfit knew the whereabouts of the missing girls on Tuesday, April 2, 2019, sparked reactions among many Ghanaians, including a taxi driver at the 37 Market. He believed Mrs Addo –Danquah should be stripped off her title.



“The CID boss came out some weeks ago to say they have found the girls, and they knew where they were. She should be fired, and even fined,” he emphasized.
