The United Front Party (UFP) has publicly announced that the party is solidly behind the flag bearer of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) as the December 7 elections approach.

The party, which was one of those which had its flag bearer disqualified in the upcoming elections, noted that they prefer aligning with the John Mahama-led NDC than the NPP or any other party.

UFP flag bearer Nana Agyenim Boateng, who made this known at a press conference on Tuesday, November 22, said the party would, however, campaign and “support our presidential candidates in this year’s election”.

He noted that the current NPP was filled with “disdain and acrimony” and was “more united under former president John Agyekum Kufour”.

“We cannot declare support for Akufo-Addo or support a party that lives in intra-party filth. Until they settle on peace and unity in the party, the UFP will not support the NPP under any circumstance,” he added.

He added that most of the policies of the NDC were similar to those of the UFP and felt it was only wise to support the party that was ready to champion what the UFP seeks.

Ghana heads to the polls on December 7 to elect a president and parliamentarians who will manage the affairs of the country.
