The Eastern Regional Minister, Mr Antwi-Boasiako Sekyere has directed drinking spots and bars not registered as night clubs to close by 2100 hours.

Mr Antwi-Boasiako gave the directives at the celebration of Awukudae festival by the Chiefs and people of the Akuapem Traditional Area at Akropong, to formally usher in activities towards the celebration of this year’s Akuapem Odwira festival.

Mr Boasiako warned that, any drinking spot owner in the area, who refuses to comply with the directive, would be made to face the laws of the country.

He advised the youth to desist from excessive drinking during and after the Odwira festival.

The Akuapemhene, Nana Addo Dankwa lll, said he had banned the firing of gunshots during this year’s Odwira festival as a result of an incident last year, which led to death of some people.

He advised the youth to avoid pre-marital sex which can lead to contracting sexually transmitted diseases such as syphilis, gonorrhea and HIV.

Nana Addo Dankwa bemoaned the recent rise of indiscipline and indecency in the country and called for a change.
