Vice President Kwesi Amissah-Arthur accompanied by his wife and children celebrated Christmas at the Children’s Ward of Koforidua Regional Hospital.
Mrs Matilda Amissah-Arthur, wife of the Vice President presented baskets full of fruits and, cartons of biscuits, creates of drinks, boxes of sweets and chocolates to the staff and children on admission at the ward.
The Vice Present led by the Medical Director of the Hospital, Dr Kwame Anim Boamah visited some departments of the hospital including the New CT Scan Centre, the Diabetic Clinic and the Ebola Isolation Centre which is under renovation and the Dental Clinic.
Addressing the staff and the mothers at the children’s ward, Vice President Amissah –Arthur called on the health personnel to educate mothers to help improve upon the nutritional conditions of children to enable them to fight against diseases.
He said, while the country prays that no Ebola Viral Disease case is recorded, there is the need for the people to prepare to contain the health challenge.
He expressed appreciation about the efforts of the hospital to establish an Ebola Isolation Centre and promised support.
Mrs Amissah-Arthurs urged personnel at the children’s ward to work hard to save lives.
Dr Boamah commended government for extending the retooling project to the hospital which had enabled the facility to have many modern equipment at the various departments.
He said some of the wards need refurbishment while road network of the hospital calls for rehabilitation.
