Vice President Amissah-Arthur meets UK delegation

Vice President Kwesi Bekoe Amissah-Arthur has called for greater collaboration and the harnessing of policies to boost relations between Ghana and the United Kingdom, especially in the area of trade.

"Such a partnership will deepen the quality of economic and political relations that exist between both countries," he said.

Mr. Amissah-Arthur made the statement during a courtesy call on him on Wednesday by the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Minister for African Affairs, Mark Simmonds, at the Flagstaff House in Accra.

He indicated that the government was following developments in the UK with keen interest to ensure that policies and decisions adopted would be in the best interest of the two countries.

He added that Ghana was currently the most favored destination in terms of doing business in the West African sub-region, noting that the government would do all it could to maintain the favourable atmosphere that investors required to operate.

Mr. Mark Simmonds commended the government of Ghana for the prudent manner it had worked to sustain the good relations both countries had enjoyed over the years.

He said there was the need to ensure that a concerted effort was made to deliver on a new paradigm that would position both countries in a strategic manner.
