Former President Jerry John Rawlings has said that though statistics on the progress of Africa seems to be looking good, it does not reflect the real conditions of the masses who are going through untoward hardships.
According to Mr. Rawlings, "Statistics suggest that Africa is rising, but huge economic inequality among citizens remains a challenge."
The former Ghanaian President was speaking at a seminar hosted by the Pan African Centre of Namibia (PACON) under the theme: "Africa Rising".
Rawlings asserts that "the wealth and overall wellbeing (of Africa) is not evenly distributed; whiles the rich are getting richer with no morals whiles the dignified live with their morals in poverty.
Mr. Rawlings reiterated his call on African countries to support Russia amidst sanctions imposed by the USA, said some African countries seem to have forgotten about the support they received from the former Soviet Union and China during the struggle of liberation.
Pan African Centre of Namibia presented a posthumous award to Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, the first president of Ghana for his dedicated service to the content of Africa in the fight for liberation. The Award was received by Ghana Ambassador to Namibia, Alhaji Haruna Atta.
