President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has a guilty conscience in respect of calls for the disbandment of vigilante groups in the country, according to a former Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Ejisu-Juaben, Afrifa Yamoah Ponko.

Mr Yamoah Ponko remarked that President Nana Akufo-Addo has no moral right to call out the political parties to deliberate on the fight against “vigilantism” since he can act as a leader and first order his party to collapse its militias before urging the others to do same.

According to him, the president has a guilty conscience hence, his lackadaisical approach in addressing the vigilante issue in the country which has become a major concern to all.

He is challenging him as the Commander-In-Chief of the Ghana Armed Forces, to first collapse the Invisible and Delta Forces which are pro-New Patriotic Party (NPP) vigilante groups for others to follow suit.

“He should first disband the Invisible and Delta Forces and make a public declaration that he is the President of the republic who presides over everything and loves peace. Even if I said all die be die in time past or not, I have collapsed vigilante groups. This will be worthy of emulation”, he said on Pure Morning Drive Monitored by MyNewsGh.com.

The former NDC appointee warned that as far as the President’s party has refused to disband these groups which are still operating at mining sites in the , there is no way others will heed to his call and disband theirs.

“The person who is at the helm of affairs if he does not prove that he is a peace-loving person, there is no way the grassroots will be peaceful. Akufo-Addo should take the first step and we will applaud him and also disband those in the NDC”, he assured.

“We can’t get rid of “vigilantism” but we can make the laws of the country work and arrest anyone who flouts the National laws”, he added.
