The Volta Regional hierarchy of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has distanced itself from a group called ‘Rambo Forces’ indicating that the group has no affiliation with the party either now or in time past.
NPP leadership described them as infiltrators who only want to drag the party’s name into disrepute and called on the public to disregard claims they are linked to the party.
Members of the supposed Pro-NPP group last week demanded that the Minister for National Security Mr. Kan Dapaah,be sacked over what they described as his “unprofessional” approach to dealing with the Delta Force issue.
The force said the minister has “weak” appreciation of what was happening in the party and therefore, does not deserve to serve in the administration of President Nana Akufo-Addo.
They said are livid and disappointed that Mr. Kan Dapaah still remains at post even when it is obvious he has contributed immensely to the escalation of the situation in Kumasi.
According to them, the actions and utterance of the minister is a clear indication that the various security forces in the party across the country have no recognition in the party “and that we have suffered for this victory for the party for nothing.”
The Rambo Forces claim they were very instrumental in preventing many Togolese and other neighboring countries from taking part in Ghana’s elections last year, which saw the electoral fortunes of the then ruling NDC take a nosedive paving way for the NPP to improve in the region.
But Pius Enam Hadzide Deputy Youth and Sports Minister-designate and leading member of the party in the region said” there is not, or has been, or will be, any entity known as Rambo Forces or anything like that affiliated with the Volta Regional NPP. The “Operation Eagle Eye” that was launched during the 2016 election was part of our larger Agenda 3:30 and involved Regional Officers, Campaign Team members, Constituency and local level officers and identified volunteers of the party.
We were able to reduce the influx of non Ghanaian voters and also reduce NDC rigging in the Volta region largely due to superior strategizing revolving around education, advocacy and vigilance. Neither Agenda 3:30 nor Operation Eagle Eye were military in nature. We worked with the police and the media to achieve great results. Yes we were attacked, assaulted, brutalized and all but we held our own against a vicious party bent on clinging on to power at all cost.
Whiles appreciating the sacrifices of others in other parts of the country, I dare say that the sacrifices made by patriots in Volta and other so called “NDC strongholds” were enormous. Nonetheless it would be foolhardy to build and destroy. We cannot sacrifice this much to bring our party to power and turn around to destroy the people’s confidence and goodwill due to our impatience and indiscretion. There may be one or two challenges but we do understand that there are laid down procedures for airing our grievances and seeking redress.
Those infiltrators and agent provocateurs lurking in our shadows and seeking to drag the NPP into disrepute will not succeed InshAllah”
