The President of Volta Regional House of Chiefs, Togbe Afede XIV has said the National Democratic Congress’s (NDC) has reiterated that the Volta Region cannot be said to be the home of only the ruling National Democratic Congress, (NDC) saying the area welcomes all political parties.

The astute businessman cum traditional ruler likened the Volta Region to a beautiful bride who is waiting for the best suitor to marry her.

Togbe Afede XIV who’s the Agbogbomefia of Asogli recently described as derogatory the ruling party’s tag of the region as its “world bank” where it’s sure of large numbers of votes during every elections, and has as a result taken the region for granted with the show of gross disrespect to the chiefs and the people.

Addressing the Regional House of Chiefs on Friday in the presence of the Flagbearer of the largest opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) Nana Akufo Addo as he rounded his 5-day tour of the region, Togbe Afede stated that the Volta region must be treated with respect by politicians.

“Volta Region is not like a loyal housewife whose husband will come home only when he’s hungry. That is why, I’m very glad that we have so many paramount chiefs here across the Region who have come to welcome Nana Akufo Addo and his entourage.”

He added though the constitution barred chiefs for active partisan politics, that doesn’t prevent them from seeking the needs and aspirations of their people.
