National Democratic Congress (NDC) Spokesperson on Youth Development Julius Kwame Anthony has asserted that galamsey activities can only be solved when the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is voted out of power.

Julius Anthony made references to some comments made by the running mate of the NPP Flagbearer, Dr Mathew Opoku Prempeh alias NAPO where he promised to give back ceased excavators to galamseyers when they come into power to continue the illegal activity.

He also referred to the comment made by Dr Nana Ayew Afriye who recently made headlines after he allegedly said that the NPP will never stop the galamsey activities.

However, Dr. Ayew Afriye has accused TV3 and Onua TV of deliberately distorting the context within which he spoke.

According to the MP, "So, what the TV3 people did was that when I said we will not stop today or tomorrow, they actually truncated and doctored it out and then made it look like all I said was we are not doing anything about galamsey and we will not stop today or tomorrow. That is a misrepresentation; it actually put me out of context."

According to Julius Anthony, President Akufo-Addo has failed to prosecute foreign nationals who were caught involved in illegal mining because he is known for seeking financial aid from these countries hence the NPP must be voted out come December 7.

“Galamsey is going on in this country because the President has downed the country to the extent that even the people they catch can’t be prosecuted; remember the case of Aisha Huang? The President has destroyed this country and going around international countries begging. Everywhere he goes, he’s with the begging bowl.”

“He is unable to prosecute foreigners and make them face the consequences of destroying this country. Aisha Huang was made to leave this country without punishment. If Aisha Huang was left to go, why put protesters in jail”, he said during a panel discussion on TV3’s New Day.
