Walkout: We exercised a Parliamentary tool - John Jinapor

John Jinapor, Member of Parliament [MP] for Yapei-Kusawgu Constituency in the Northern Region, has said he will not admit speculations from the public and some majority members in parliament that they [minority members] could have stayed at home to protest their grievances in the August House than walk out after welcoming President Akufo-Addo.

“ . .It is a matter of choice . . . There are a lot of ways to deal with an issue so we decided to go the constitutional way as exercised in the House yesterday,” he said.

Commenting on their action in parliament which has outshined the relevance of the 2020 State of the Nation Address [SONA] on UTV's 'Adekye Nsroma' discussion segment, the former Minister of State stressed it is never true as majority members claim they didn’t come to the House at all in 2013 to protest against President John Dramani Mahama when he was to deliver the State of the Nation Address.

John Jinapor further justified their actions as being fair than the then minority members, because they [NPP minority] didn’t welcome ex-President Mahama at all before their walk out.

“Our walk out from parliament is within the framework of parliaments’ constitution. We have individual reasons as party members for the boycott of which my personal reason was for the President to punish culprits responsible for the Ayawaso West constituency by-election violence to send signals to the Security Services ahead of the upcoming general elections,” he said.
