Leader of the United Renaissance Party (URP), Kofi Wayo has been reacting to the demonstration staged by some NPP MPs and supporters in Ashanti Region on Tuesday over electricity load shedding and economic hardship.

Mr Wayo, who spoke to Radio Ghana took a swipe at the demonstration and said the MPs do not have any moral right to have embarked on that demonstration.

According to him, democracy does not mean Ghanaians can get up to do anything they like.

He also asked President Mahama to put his foot down and crack down on saboteurs and any group of people who want to play tribal politics because it is so dangerous for the unity of the state.

It would be recalled that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) on Tuesday marched along the streets of the Ashanti Region capital of Kumasi to protest what it describes as hardship in the region.

Dubbed: “Yay3 d3n demo” to wit “what have we done”, the protest saw hundreds of the party’s supporters in the region wield placards to protest some of government’s policies in the region, which they say, have rendered most of them jobless.

Some of the placards wielded read: “Ghanaians deserve better”, “Enough is enough”, “Save our Cedi, JM”, “Children are dying” and “Kun yen preko”.

There was slight confusion during the procession, TV3 news reported.
