We are working hard to bring back Takoradi kidnapped girls - COP Tiwaa Addo-Danquah

The Director -General of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), COP Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah has assured Ghanaians, and families of the Takoradi kidnapped girls that the security service will not relent on its efforts to retrieve and present the girls to their families alive.

According to her, retrieving and presenting the girls to their families was her topmost priority and therefore will not sleep on the matter till the girls are presented to their families.

Priscilla Blessing Bentum was first kidnapped on August 17th 2018, while Ruthlove Quayeson was kidnapped on December 4, 2018 and Priscilla Mantsebeah Koranchie also kidnapped on December 21st 2018.

COP Tiwaa Addo-Danquah was speaking on Atinka TV’s Big Stories on Saturday where she made the assurance.

“I have not slept about the issue of the kidnaped girls, my officers and I are doing whatever we have to do to bring them back. As at now, one of the things that will bring me joy is to hold the hands of the three girls and present them to their families and Ghanains as a whole. That is my topmost priority,” she said.

It will be recalled, that COP Tiwaa Addo-Danquah addressing journalists at a press conference on Tuesday, April, 2nd 2019, said the CID knew the whereabouts of the girls but will not disclose it for their safety.

She also stated that It had taken them over three months to identify where the girls were, and will not do anything to jeopardise their safety, but rather, work hard in collaboration with stakeholders to bring back the girls.

Meanwhile, COP Tiwaa Addo-Danquah explained on Atinka TV that she came out to tell the families of the girls and the public the CID knew the whereabouts of the girls to encourage them and to give them hope that their girls were safe.

“We came out to inform the public that we knew whereabouts of the girls in order to give their families hope and to encourage them as well. Also, to let them know that we are not sleeping on the matter, only that I cannot give timelines,” she added.

Having said that, she also expalined that it was not only her working on the issue and that it was a teamwork, adding that the department had gotten all the assistance needed to bring back the girls.

“We have received all the logistics needed to work on the issue of the kidnapped girls and we are still on it. From the beginning of the issue, whatever we asked for, has been provided, we are still pushing hard to ensure they are brought back safe,” she added.
