The Vice President and flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has stated that in spite of the number of jobs the NPP Government has created in the past seven and a half years, more needs to be done to create jobs for the teeming youth of the country.

The Government, Dr. Bawumia noted, has created 2.1 million jobs since 2017, which he said no government has done before. However, he was quick to add that more has to be done to create additional employment opportunities.

"In terms of jobs, we have created 2.1 million jobs. It is still not enough, but it is more than any government in the history of the 4th Republic. We have to do more to create job opportunities for the youth," Dr. Bawumia said, as he toured the Tema Constituencies in the Greater Accra Region.

To create more jobs, Dr. Bawumia explained a number of his youth-centered policies, which he said his government will implement to create job opportunities for the youth.

Among them, Dr. Bawumia said his government will build a digital hub in Ghana, which will be a catalyst for job creation. In this regard, he stressed his intention to train one million youth in ICT, including SHS holders and school dropouts, to create job opportunities for them in digital areas both in Ghana and abroad.

To also create more job opportunities, Dr. Bawumia announced that his government will incentivize the private sector and boost their growth to create more jobs by introducing a new business-friendly tax regime, which will offer businesses tax amnesty and a flat tax rate.

Additionally, on job creation, Dr. Bawumia explained that his government will invest more in technical and vocational training, which has received a major boost under the Akufo-Addo government in the past seven years.
