The police have warned they will not have mercy on anyone who foments trouble at the New Patriotic Party (NPP) demonstration on Wednesday.

The main opposition party will hit the streets of Accra midweek to protest the worsening power crisis in Ghana. The protest march will begin from the Obra Spot (Kwame Nkrumah Circle), through to the Farisco Traffic Lights then to the TUC Traffic Lights and finally converge at the Hearts of Oak Park.

The demonstration dubbed “Wongbo” to wit “We’re dying” is expected to attract a large crowd. And the police have served notice no one will be spared when caught breaking the law.

“There are people who may want to join to cause confusion, all those people if we find them, we are going to identify them and deal with them according to the law,” the spokesperson of the Greater Accra Police Command, ASP Afia Tenge told Ultimate News’ Prince Minkah.

“We have our men on the ground, and we will not hesitate to pick you out and deal with you,” she added.

The Danquah-Busia-Dombo Tradition has hinted the demonstration will be graced by members from the other smaller parties.

However, ASP Tenge said the police are unaware of any other groups or political parties who intend joining the NPP.

“I don’t know if by the nature of this demonstration, the kind of message they are going to spread across, people feel they want to join, I am not aware.

“We have only had a notice from the leadership of the NPP that they are embarking on a demonstration. They may extend invitations for other people to join,” Tenge noted.
