Officials from the Ministry of Youth and Sports, led by Mustapha Ussif, along with representatives from the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and others, have been summoned by Parliament, according to Joy Sports.

Per the report, Parliament plans to investigate Ghana’s 2023 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) campaign, which saw expenditures exceeding $3 million.

The Sports Committee, chaired by Kobina Woyome, will engage with the GFA, the Black Stars management committee, the Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA), the National Sports Authority (NSA), and both past and present members of the Black Stars.

In an interview with Joy Sports, Woyome explained that the purpose of the session is to scrutinise the officials to understand the events during the 2023 AFCON.

"The aim of the probe is to gain a fundamental understanding of the issues that have led us to this point. To interrogate the individual decisions and actions that may have affected our Black Stars," he said as quoted by myjoyonline.com.

Additionally, the committee will hear from the pressure group Save Ghana Football Forum to understand their grievances.

The Black Stars were eliminated at the group stage of the 2023 AFCON in Ivory Coast following a poor performance.

This disappointing campaign resulted in the dismissal of Chris Hughton, who faced criticism for his tactical approach to the games.
