The Member of Parliament for Manhyia South, Lawyer Nana Agyei Baffour, has described as unfortunate the decision by President John Dramani Mahama to rush through the sacking of Chief Justice Gertrude Torkonu.

According to the MP, the President should have waited for detailed reports on all petitions filed against her before taking any concrete action.

Speaking on Joy News’ Newsfile on Saturday, September 6, 2025, Nana Agyei Baffour questioned the haste in presenting a report on just one of the petitions, noting that such a sensitive issue requires careful consideration.

He emphasised that the President should have allowed for more time to gather all necessary information to make an informed decision.
