The Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Youth Employment Agency, Justice Frimpong has assured beneficiaries of the payment of their allowances by Monday.
A Statement from the agency said “All those who were verified will received their allowances and part of their arrears paid from early next week. The payroll will be sent to GHIPSS for validation/ verification of payment on Monday”.
The statement further indicated that “We are working assiduously to ensure arrears and allowance of every verified beneficiary is paid. It is taking us time because the arrears involve per beneficiary differ”.
Payment of allowances to people employed under the Youth Employment Agency was halted after the agency detected some financial malfeasance and had to audit the payroll.
As a result of the audit, the agency deleted over 16,000 ghost names from the payroll. The audit also found out that some of the employees on some schemes were also found to have been above the YEA’s age requirements.
At a press conference earlier this week, the agency disclosed that the deletion has saved the country over twenty million cedis.
It also revealed that some persons had ended their service but were still been paid by the agency.
