The New Patriotic Party has expressed its disappointment in the NDC’s decision not to sign the roadmap geared towards ending political vigilantism.
According to the NPP, the National Democratic Congress has wasted everyone’s time by opting out at the final stage after deliberating on the issue for eight months.
“Right from April, we had discussions and agreed. We were given the opportunity to pass our comments months ago. We were invited to conclude on this matter only for you to disappoint us,” the party’s General Secretary, John Boadu stated.
He further rubbished the NDC’s reasons for not signing the roadmap.
The NDC refused to sign the roadmap saying government, NCCE, CHRAJ, Electoral Commission others were not made signatories to the said document. The party also insisted that their members at the meeting did not have the needed capacity to sign it.
But Mr. Boadu said “you were aware you needed that capacity to conclude on this matter and you opted to do otherwise? It is unfortunate. We believe that all the other things that have been stated are the jobs of these institutions who are not on the paper. If we are to sign an agreement and we need every Tom, Dick, and Harry present to be able to sign, we wouldn’t do anything in this country. I am very disappointed.”
