Rev. Anthony Afful-Broni, Vice Chancellor of the University of Education, Winneba
Chief of Effutu Zongo, Salaki Sulemana Salaga IV, says the Vice Chancellor of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW), Rev. Father Afful-Broni, is the reason for the ongoing strife in the institution.
His statement follows series of write-ups by lecturer at the University, Alhassan Salifu Bawa, alleging that Member of Parliament for Effutu Constituency Alexander Afenyo Markin is sabotaging the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) by deliberately creating chaos at UEW.
According to Bawa, actions by Markin are in a bid to bring government to disrepute.
But the statement by Salaki Sulemana Salaga IV questioned the VC’s silence stressing that, “It appears you have endorsed Bawa’s behavior to continuously disrespect our MP. Ever since you succeeded in maligning Prof. Mawutor Avoke and thereby taking his position UEW has not known peace.”
He added, “It is so clear that Bawa is doing your bidding the reason you haven’t found the need tp dislipline him much against your purported avowed principle as a disciplinarian.”
He advised that as a priest of the Catholic Church, it is expected of him to respect all officers of the university rather than blaming and victimizing them.
Bawa further warned that the Muslim community appreciate the works of Afenyo-Markin hence “we will not sit down for you and your cohorts to tarnish his image.”
The National Security Minister in a letter have also queried the Lecturer to answer the allegations made on the MP because the Effutu Community and the Concerned Students of the University are not in agreement with his claims.
